Portable Network Graphics
A recent and relatively unused image format. Unfortunately not supported directly by older browsers hence the relatively low usage. it combines the advantages of both the JPEG and GIF formats i.e. can handle millions of colours like JPEG and colour transparency and loss less compression like the GIF format. This will probably become the standard image format in the future. |
